NI (Norton Integrator)
Description: Executes a full-screen menu system that lets you run any
Norton utility by selecting it. You can enter parameters and
option switches in a command edit window before you run the
selected utility. NI provides a help display for each utility.
Syntax: Version 4.0: NI [/D0 | /D1 | /D2] [[[/F(n)] [/B(n)]] | /BW |
/TV]
Version 4.5: NI [/D0 | /D1] [/BW] [/NOSNOW]
Parameters:
/B(n) Specifies the background color for the menu system. Use an integer
from 0 through 15 to specify the color. If you attempt to specify
identical foreground and background colors, NI adds one to the
foreground color number before beginning execution. Avoid using the
high-intensity shade of a color for the foreground with the
normal-intensity shade of the same color for the background (for
example, /F12 bright red and /B4 red). The default is /B1 (blue).
See <NUCOLOR>.
/BW Specifies a black-and-white display in versions 4.0 and 4.5.
/D0 Requests the standard screen driver (the default) for a fully
IBM-compatible computer system.
/D1 Requests the screen driver for a BIOS-compatible computer system.
/D2 Requests the ANSI.SYS driver for a non-IBM-compatible computer
system.
/F(n) Specifies the foreground color for the menu system. Use an integer
from 0 through 15 to specify the color. The default is /F15 (bright
white). See <NUCOLOR>.
/NOSNOW Prevents screen flicker if your system has an older CGA card.
/TV Indicates that NI is running under either TopView or Microsoft
Windows.
Notes:
<NUNIG01> shows the primary display in the Advanced Edition of version 4.5 of
the Norton Integrator. Use the Up and Down direction keys to change the
command selection on the left side of the panel. The right side of the panel
shows the syntax and a brief description of each command when you select it.
You can also use the PgUp and PgDn keys to rapidly page through all available
command selections. Or, you can press the Tab key to enter Speed Search mode;
this allows you to type either all or the first part of a command name to
place the highlight on the matching command name that is closest in the list.
When the highlight is on the command you want, press the Tab key again to
exit Speed Search mode. Type in additional parameters or switches to complete
the selected command. You can use WordStar-compatible edit keys within the
command edit window. When you have completed entering the command, press
Enter to run it.
When a command you have initiated from within NI completes execution, the NI
menu reappears. The Norton Integrator keeps a history of the NI commands you
have run in this session. Press Ctrl-E to move backward in the history list,
and press Ctrl-X to move forward. You can modify and run any previously
executed command again by pressing Enter when it is displayed.
If you start NI with one of the display switches (such as /BW) and if you
intend to run one of the other full-screen commands using the attribute
indicated by the switch, you must reenter the switch on the command line. In
version 4.5, the full-screen commands are DS, FR, NCC, NCD, NDD, NU, SD, and
SF. In version 4.0, they are DS, NCD, NU, and SD.
